Okunoshima!!! I was most looking forward to this part of my trip. This is an island that used to house chemical weapons (and reasearch) but it’s been abandoned and is now inhabited by RABBITS!!! They were so amazing and cute and wanted me to feed them and they were adorable. I hiked all the way around the island and fed rabbits and checked out abandoned buildings.

Took a day trip from Hiroshima.  Saw (and touched!) the floating gate and climbed a mountain!  I also met some new friends from the UK who were amazing and hilarious and helped distract me from the sadness that was Hiroshima.

More Hiroshima.  I basically spent 4 hours sitting in the peace park, staring at the a-dome, drinking beer and crying.  Truth.

It’s Golden Week here in Japan.  I went on a series of adventures that began in Hiroshima.  These photos are from the Peace Museum.  They include my meager words of encouragement, a diagram of the city before and after the bomb, a diagram with the bomb suspended over the city, two watches that stopped the moment the bomb struck, a view from the part toward the a-domb and a picture of the museum from the eternal flame.
I cried a lot and therefore drank a lot.  It was devastatingly sad, but I really enjoyed my time there.

Today I went to Okunoshima in the Seto Inland Sea. It used to house a chemical warfare research facility but is now home to thousands of amazing rabbits.
